Woo Sang-hyeok jumps from Doha on the 6th and Yecheon on the 9th… “I’ll come back with a smile”

The 2023 KBS Cup National Athletics Championships, which also served as the Hangzhou Asian Games national team selection event, will open the day after tomorrow (5th) at Yecheon Stadium in North Gyeongsang Province.

The 2023 World Athletics Federation Diamond League opening series will be held in Doha, Qatar on the 5th local time.

Despite a very tight schedule, Woo Sang-hyeok competes in both competitions, smiling like his nickname ‘Smile Jumper’.

Woo Sang-hyeok left for Doha this morning to compete in the Doha Diamond League.

Woo Sang-hyeok, who met with reporters at Incheon International Airport before entering the departure hall, said, “I changed my life from day to night at the end of training in Jeju Island. As soon as I arrived in Doha, I had to adjust to the time difference in Korea.” It will be held at dawn on the 6th, Korean time. While training in Jeju Island, I started walking from 10pm and fell asleep in the morning from a week ago.”

Woo Sang-hyeok, who will be playing his first outdoor event this year in the Doha Diamond League men’s high jump, starting at 1:20 am on the 6th in Korea time, set his ‘physical time’ to Doha.

After the Doha Diamond League, Woo Sang-hyeok hurriedly packs up and returns to Korea.

The KBS Cup men’s general high jump starts on the 9th at 11:00 am.

Arriving at Incheon International Airport at 4:55 pm on the 7th, Woo Sang-hyeok turns his body time back to ‘Korea’ and moves to Yecheon, where the KBS boat is held.

The Korea Association of Athletics Federations already said in March, “

The federation organized the men’s high jump match on the last day of the KBS Cup in consideration of Woo Sang-hyeok’s schedule to participate in the Doha Diamond League.

The federation, which must maintain fairness, was the only consideration that Woo Sang-hyeok could do.

Woo Sang-hyeok is the most likely athlete to win a medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games in Korean track and field.

Woo Sang-hyeok won the silver medal by jumping 2m35 at the 2022 Eugene World Championships.

The World Athletics Federation also recognizes Woo Sang-hyeok as a rival of ‘the best active jumper’ Mutaz Esa Barsim (Qatar).

However, you cannot make an exception for ‘representative selection’.

The Korea Association of Athletics Federations said, “If you participate in the national team selection event but withdraw due to injury, etc., athletes with the best record in 2022-2023 can win a medal (record in the top 3 of the 2022-2023 Asian rankings) can be eligible for relief. However, even a player with the world’s best skills must apply for the KBS Cup and appear at the Yecheon Stadium on the day of the match.

Woo Sang-hyeok, who had to fly from Incheon International Airport to Doha for 10 hours, fly another 9 hours, arrive in Incheon, and travel more than 3 hours to Yecheon, calmly accepted the reality.

Woo Sang-hyeok said, “I want to play as many games as possible. As a player, you have to play even in difficult situations.” I also enjoy winning.스포츠토토

What Woo Sang-hyeok wants is a ‘brilliant return’, not special treatment.

On May 14 last year at the Doha Diamond League, Woo Sang-hyuk won the championship over 2m33, beating Barsim of 2m30.

It was the first time that a Korean player won the Diamond League, where the world’s top players compete.

Woo Sang-hyeok competes with Barshim for the championship once again.

Woo Sang-hyeok’s first goal this season is to win the Doha Diamond League for the second time in a row.

Woo Sang-hyeok said, “The Doha Diamond League will be held at dawn in Korean time, but I hope you will watch and support me a lot. I think all of the fans’ support will be conveyed to me.” I will shine. I will not come back with a resentful expression. I will come back with a smile.”
