Surprised by 54-year-old Goo Dae-sung, Hanwha seniors and juniors “It’s great and I respect it”

Last week, the name of Koo Dae-seong (54) went up and down in the baseball world for a long time. Koo Dae-seong, who was unexpectedly registered as a player in the Australian Professional Baseball (ABL) Geelong Korea, played three games, giving up one hit and two walks in 2⅓ innings, striking out two. He gave up two runs, but all of them were non-earned runs due to errors in defense, and Koo Dae-sung’s average earned run average was 0.00.  메이저사이트

He was born in 1969 and pitched unbelievably for a 54-year-old. On January 20, 2019, when he was coach of Geelong Korea, he sprayed the highest velocity of 123 km on the actual mound he climbed in four years. Although it has dropped significantly compared to its heyday, the pitching form that twists the body toward second base and the pitch that stabs the batter’s body is still alive.

Seniors and juniors were also surprised by the news of Goo Dae-sung from the other side of the world. Song Jin-woo (57), former coach of Scorebone Hyenas, who held the record for the oldest in the KBO League by playing until the age of 43 in 2009, said, “It was a good throw. The willpower is amazing,” he said.

Former coach Song said, “We have been together as players for a long time, but Daesung has a different personality. He has a natural body, but it is possible because he has such a personality.” Former coach Song, who threw a batting ball and threw it vigorously until a few years ago, said, “I am too old now, so I can’t throw like that. My arms are stiff and my muscles are losing weight, so it’s not like the old days,” he laughed.

Hanwha pitcher Jang Min-jae (33), who is active as an active player, also admired the pitching of Dae-sung Koo, a senior player. He said, “The only thing that came out was ‘Wow’. “I remember playing catch with senior Koo Dae-sung for the first time after coming to Hanwha when I was a rookie. Even then, I could see why he had been playing baseball for so long and throwing well.”

When Jang Min-jae joined as a rookie in 2009, Koo Dae-seong was past his prime as a 40-year-old veteran. Jang Min-jae, who was with Koo Dae-sung as a catch-ball partner, said, “At that time, he was over 40 years old. But at the time, he threw (long toss) farther than I did. It was the first time I felt like, ‘Oh, this is why this is a pro’.”

Even after 14 years have passed since then, Koo Dae-sung has been on the mound in official matches and has thrown the ball. Jang Min-jae, who has become the third senior pitcher in the team, said, “Senior Koo Dae-seong keeps throwing until he reaches that age. Compared to him, I’m still a new blood,” he said with a laugh.
