Lee Kang-in’s best friend dismisses Real return speculation…”I have no intention of going back”

Kubo Takefusa has dismissed rumours of a return to Real Madrid.

“I want to shine in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) with the team next season,” Kubo Takefusa (21, Real Sociedad) said in an interview with Spanish media outlet Cadenacer on 2 February (KST). “The door to Real Madrid is closed,” he said, reacting negatively to recent rumours of a return.

Recognised for his talent from an early age, Kubo joined Real Madrid’s youth team Castilla in 2019. He possessed spectacular dribbling and a sharp left-footed kick. He was called up to the first team shortly after, but was limited to a handful of friendly appearances during the off-season.토토사이트

He then went out on loan. Over the course of three years, he went on loan to Mallorca, Villarreal, and Getafe. During his time in Mallorca, he even showed off his friendship with Lee Kang-in, with whom he shares a common bond as an Asian player.

Tired of the constant loan spells, Kubo opted for a permanent move to Real Sociedad ahead of this season. The move proved to be a ‘stroke of genius’. In 43 appearances, he scored nine goals and provided nine assists. Real Sociedad finished the season in fourth place in the league thanks to Kubo’s performance. They also qualified for the UCL next season.

This performance sparked speculation of a return to Real Madrid. According to local media, Kubo had been tipped to replace Marco Asensio, who is leaving Real Madrid this summer.

But he played it cool. In an interview, Kubo pledged his future to Real Sociedad and said that he was objective and that “there is no place where I can shine more than at my current club”.

Meanwhile, his ‘best friend’ Lee Kang-in is being linked with a move away. According to Spanish outlet OK Diario, he has received an official offer from Atletico Madrid.
