Reports have emerged that Wolverhampton striker Hwang Hee-chan could attract a host of interest in the summer transfer window.
Hwang joined Wolverhampton on loan from Bundesliga side Leipzig last season, and following a successful loan spell, he was bought outright by the club.메이저사이트
He continued to impress in every appearance this season, but was hampered by a series of injuries. A hamstring injury ruled him out of the squad on the eve of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and although he was trusted by Julen Lopetegui upon his return, he was limited by injury between February and April.
In addition to his unfortunate injury, Wolverhampton’s financial situation has also had an impact.
According to local reports in England, Wolverhampton will be forced to sell players to meet Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations next season.
Hwang Hee-chan, who has been earmarked for sale, will have to prepare for life elsewhere next season, with Premier League and Serie A sides interested in a move to a better environment.
“Hwang Hee-chan could be set for a move this summer following interest from a number of Premier League clubs, including Tottenham and Newcastle,” the Mirror reported on 28 July.
“Tottenham and Newcastle are among several clubs interested in Hwang Hee-chan,” the Mirror said. “Wolverhampton were stunned to learn they had to sell the player due to FFP, which has brought him to the attention of Tottenham,” said Lopetegui.
“Newcastle, who are looking to strengthen their squad after reaching the UEFA Champions League, have also made enquiries, while Aston Villa and Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma have also added the player to their watchlist,” he added.
The Mirror predicted that Lopetegui would be loath to lose the player.
“With Nabil Neves and Mateusz Núñez likely to leave, Lopetegui is loath to lose Hwang, who has had important talks with the owner about the summer transfer window,” the publication said.
Emphasising that teams will need to approach at an early stage, the outlet added: “Lopetegui wants any deal to be completed as soon as possible. That means suitors for Hwang will have to reach out to him in the coming weeks,” explaining that if Hwang does move, a decision could be made quickly after the transfer window opens.
Meanwhile, if Hwang leaves Wolverhampton and joins Tottenham, Newcastle, Aston Villa and AS Roma, there is a good chance we could see him in a UEFA-organised competition next season.
Newcastle have already qualified for the Champions League, while Tottenham and Newcastle are in contention for a Europa League spot. Roma will also qualify for UEFA competitions if they win the Europa League this season or maintain their current sixth-place finish.
Many Korean fans will be interested to see if Hwang Hee-chan, who had a somewhat disappointing season, will be given a second chance by Wolverhampton’s situation.
