The Toronto Blue Jays have won two straight games behind a strong pitching performance from Chris Bassett (34).

Starter Chris Bassitt earned his seventh win of the season, allowing two runs on four hits (one home run) in eight innings with five strikeouts. Bassitt, who signed a three-year, $63 million contract with Toronto this offseason, has been solid in 13 games (82 innings) with a 6-4 record and 3.29 ERA. Closer Jordan Romano earned his 16th save of the season with a scoreless inning of one-hit ball, striking out one. At the plate, Beau Bichette (14th of the season) and Brandon Belt (4th of the season) homered to lead the team to victory.

Houston opened the scoring in the fourth inning on a Mauricio Dubon single and a Jordan Alvarez two-run homer.

Toronto answered with a run in the fourth on a solo home run by leadoff hitter Bichette and a tying solo home run by Belt in the sixth.

Toronto regained the lead in the seventh when Dalton Bashaw and Kevin Kiermaier drew walks to put runners on first and second. Alejandro Kirk followed with an RBI single to put the game out of reach.

With Bassett on the mound through the eighth, Toronto preserved the win in the ninth when closer Romano gave up a leadoff double to Duvon.
