‘100 Mile Young Gun Rival’ couldn’t decide the winner in the first confrontation in his life.
On the final day of the three-game series between the Cincinnati Reds and the Atlanta Braves at True East Park on the 13th (Korean time), fans’ attention was focused on the restraints of both teams’ starting pitchers.
Cincinnati starter Hunter Green (24) and Atlanta starter Spencer Strider (25) are young guns with fastballs exceeding 100 miles.
Green pitched 6 innings, giving up 7 hits and striking out 10, giving up 3 runs. However, Atlanta won 5-4, and Green missed again in his first win of the season.
Strider was a bit uneasy, allowing 4 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings, striking out 9 and allowing 3 runs, but he was replaced before Green and it had nothing to do with the win or loss. In terms of superiority and inferiority, Green, who threw one more inning, won the game. Even in restraint, Green overpowered Strider.
Green’s fastball speed, which is 41 out of 101 pitches, was the highest 101.7 miles (163.7 km) and averaged 98.6 miles. He sprinkled 7 balls over 100 mph.
Strider showed 55 fastballs in 98 balls, a maximum of 99.6 miles (160.3 km) and an average of 97.1 miles. Strider threw a four-seam last year that topped 102.4 mph. But this year, no fastball over 100 mph has yet been released.
Strider got 3 hits in the first inning and gave up 2 runs first. Cincinnati called in both runners with a right-handed hit by Tyler Stephenson in a second and third opportunity created by consecutive hits by leading players Jonathan India and TJ Friedle.
Green faced a crisis in the bottom of the first inning by allowing lead Ronald Acuna Jr. to hit a double from the left, but got off to a fresh start by catching all the following three batters. However, Green gave up 3 hits and 1 walk in the bottom of the 2nd inning and allowed 2 runs to tie the game. He struck out two consecutive hitters with the bases loaded safely, but hit Akuna Jr. with a 99-mph fastball into the high course and got a heavy hit at the right time. 안전놀이터
The two allowed one run each in the third inning, leading to a 3-3 balance. After that, they both found peace.
Strider subdued the 4th and 5th innings with three-way offenses in a row, and Green blocked 3 innings with 1 hit and no runs in the 4th, 5th and 6th innings.
The Cincinnati line-up scored a run in the top of the 7th inning when it was 3-3, and took the lead again. After one death, Luke Miley’s left-handed hit and Stuart Fairchild’s walk resulted in a chance on 1st and 2nd base.
However, Atlanta tied the game again with Acuna Junior’s solo home run in the bottom of the 7th inning. Acuna Junior hit opponent Ian Zibo’s 89-mile cutter and passed it over the right wall. Atlanta eventually scored the winning run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Leader Eddie Rosario hit a solo home run in mid-month by hitting a 93 mph fastball from Cincinnati right-hander Buck Farmer.
